Pig Invitation |
The pig(s), after all, made the supreme sacrifice making it possible for us to have our pig pickin’ fun. This was their last hurrah; while Dan and Anna will have many more photo opportunities.
The “fun” in the pig pickin’ was to honor the upcoming nuptials of Anna
Beaver and Dan Duffy, and was hosted by Anna’s Greensboro family and friends. It also provided the opportunity for the
Beaver and Duffy families to toast the bride and groom before the October 13 wedding at St. Simons Island, Georgia.
The setting was picture perfect, on the lawn and
porch of an elegant Greensboro home on a pleasant summer evening. Guests enjoyed the yard or the gracious wrap around porch.
Our star pig(s) were kept in the cooker until
picking’ time and closely guarded by Don Beaver, Anna’s paternal grandfather, who
cooked a most excellent pork. It was served
the popular North Carolina way with a vinegar based sauce.
Nurse Sherry. Anna, and Kaitlin |
Kaitlin and her family organized and hosted the
event. A special thanks goes out to them
and other unsung heroes for doing such a great job, as you will see in the following
pictures.

Mr. FOG was so glad that he was able to be at the Beaver/Duffy Greensboro Pig Pickin’s fun reception. It was a great opportunity to meet Anna’s family and friends. Having lived most of his life in the South, although probably his time in South Florida doesn’t count since it is either Yankee or Latin, he decided to settle down in Asheville, North Carolina. He has not been disappointed by North Carolina. North Carolinians demonstrate a courtesy and gentility, high even by Southern standards and Greensboro was no exception. Plus Greensboro has pig pickin’ fun
